There are many people around the world who apply for permanent residency. Not everyone is able to become permanent residents. We, however, are here to guide you through the entire process, making sure you complete all necessary steps properly. Before you can apply, you must qualify under one of four criteria for permanent residency:
- Marriage
- Work
- Asylum
- Visa Lottery
A permanent resident does not have the same rights as a U.S. citizen. For example, a permanent resident cannot vote. However, you must become a permanent resident before you can become a U.S. citizen. After five years of permanent residency, or three years married to an American citizen, you can apply for citizenship. U.S. immigration will check for any arrests on your record, and then you must simply swear allegiance to the United States. Then you will finally be granted U.S. citizenship.
